16 party leaders, including Deuba and Prachanda, to address UML convention

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has invited leaders of 16 political parties to attend its 11th General Convention.

Rajendra Gautam, head of the party’s Publicity Department, stated that the invitations were extended so the party leaders could convey their best wishes to the convention.

Mahesh Bartaula, who personally invited the leaders, said that Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has confirmed his attendance, and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed interest in coming. “If he cannot attend, he will send the Acting President,” Bartaula added.

UML Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali mentioned that messages of greetings have also been received from various political parties in friendly countries.

Gautam further said that the opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:30 PM today (Saturday) and continue until 3:30 PM. General Secretary Shankar Pokharel will oversee the program, while UML President KP Sharma Oli will deliver a special address.
