MYAGDI: Blacktopping work has commenced on the Lasti–Beni stretch of the Kali Gandaki Corridor, a key road link connecting Maldhunga–Beni–Mustang with the national highway network.
According to Engineer Bishnu Chapagai, Information Officer at the Beni–Jomsom–Korala Road Project, the blacktopping process from Farse toward Beni began today. “Out of the 13-kilometer-long Maldhunga–Beni road, around two kilometers in the landslide-affected area have already been graded,” he said.
Earlier, approximately five kilometers of the road—from Maldhunga in Kushma Municipality-1, Parbat, to Farse in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8—had already been blacktopped.
A contract worth Rs 528.6 million was signed in April 2021 for widening the Maldhunga–Beni section to 11 meters and completing grading and blacktopping works using modern asphalt technology.
Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities along the corridor.
