India welcomes formation of Nepal’s interim govt.



KATHMANDU: India has welcomed the formation of a new interim government in Nepal, led by former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

Soon after Karki assumed office as interim prime minister on Friday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement extending its support.

“We welcome the formation of Nepal’s new interim government under the leadership of Sushila Karki. We hope this will contribute to promoting peace and stability,” the statement read.

The ministry further described India as a close neighbor, democratic friend, and long-term development partner, adding that it would continue to work together with Nepal for the welfare and prosperity of both countries and peoples.
