Curfew lifted in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: The curfew and public gathering ban imposed in Kathmandu Valley for the past six days have been lifted as of this morning.

The Nepali Army had been regularly issuing notices about the restrictions since September 9. However, no such notices were issued today by either the army or the local administration.

With the lifting of restrictions, daily life in the Valley has begun returning to normal. Curfews and bans imposed in other districts across the country have also been lifted simultaneously.

The measures were initially enforced on the afternoon of September 8, after the Gen Z movement reached its peak. In response to the movement’s demands, President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Sushila Karki as Prime Minister last night — a move seen as aligning with the spirit of the protests.
