Home Minister accuses RSP of fabricating complaints using fake victims

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has alleged that a fake victim was set up at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) office to file a forged complaint against him in connection with the visit visa scandal.

Despite continued protests by RSP and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in the House on Friday, Lekhak defended himself from the rostrum, claiming the accusations were politically motivated and part of a conspiracy.

“My political career has always been transparent. I have never engaged in wrongdoing,” he said, adding that attempts were being made to defame him through false allegations driven by prejudice.

Without naming the party directly, Lekhak said he had received information that fake victims were planted at a political party office to register fabricated complaints against him. He warned of action against those involved.

Earlier in the session, RSP lawmaker Manish Jha claimed that there is evidence linking the Home Minister to the visa scam and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continue its protest.

As Lekhak spoke, RSP lawmakers surrounded the well of the House in protest. Amid the obstruction and sloganeering by RSP and RPP lawmakers, Speaker Devraj Ghimire proceeded with the House agenda.

The session also included the formal announcement that Madhav Kumar Nepal, chair of the Unified Socialist party, has been suspended from his position as a Member of Parliament.
