Madhesh Front calls for investigation into visit visa scandal after Maoist withdrawal



KATHMANDU: After the Maoist Centre backed away from its stance on the visit visa scandal, the Federal Democratic Front, a coalition of seven Madhesh-based political parties, has demanded an investigation into the case, citing concerns over possible human trafficking.

The alliance held a meeting in Kathmandu on Friday, where it concluded that the allegations linked to the visa scam are serious and require a thorough probe. Rajendra Mahato, chair of the Rastriya Mukti Party, said the meeting emphasized the need to make the investigation report public and take action against those found guilty.

The front also decided to initiate talks with indigenous and ethnic groups, their affiliated parties, and organizations to build a joint struggle on shared agendas.

In addition, the meeting formed a secretariat to organize the front’s activities and agreed to finalize the front’s working procedure after gathering input from all member parties.
