Home Minister Lekhak: No involvement in visa scam, no reason to resign over staff misconduct

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the corruption investigation into the visit visa scandal will not be influenced by him and firmly denied any personal involvement in the case.

Addressing the House of Representatives on Friday amid opposition obstruction, Lekhak claimed there is an attempt to politically frame him.

“I have been wrongly accused just because officials at the Tribhuvan International Airport immigration office are implicated,” he said. “There is no involvement on my part. I am clear on this.”

He added that he is fully prepared to cooperate with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and is even ready to appear if required.

Defending his position, Lekhak insisted that a minister should not be forced to resign over the alleged misconduct of employees, calling such demands “completely wrong and inappropriate.”
