Kathmandu Metropolitan City promotes intangible heritage through ‘Dharmapath Mahotsav’

Kathmandu, June 13: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is hosting the ‘Dharmapath Mahotsav’ today to promote and preserve the city’s rich intangible heritage.

The festival is taking place in Dharmapath, located in Ward No. 23. According to Ward Chairman Macharaja Maharjan, the event highlights various forms of intangible cultural heritage, including local rituals, traditional musical instruments, dances, and other cultural practices.

“The ward has been conducting cultural training programs to preserve these traditions, especially those associated with the Guthi system. We’ve been teaching singing, dancing, and playing traditional instruments, and these skills will be showcased during the festival,” Maharjan said.

In addition to cultural preservation, the festival also aims to promote and support local products and their market reach. The event features cultural performances, a health camp, stalls offering local cuisines, a handicraft exhibition, and other attractions.
