NEPSE falls by double digits as majority of stocks decline



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a drop today, falling by 14.87 points to close at 2,634.23 points.

This marks a 0.56 percent decline in the overall index, accompanied by a noticeable slowdown in trading activity.

A total of 21,128,231 shares were traded today, amounting to a turnover of Rs. 9.63 billion. Despite the market slump, the share prices of 77 companies rose, while 168 companies saw a decline. One company’s share price remained unchanged.

Altogether, 314 companies were involved in today’s trading, and 122,445 transactions were recorded. Of the 13 sectoral groups, only three posted gains. The development bank group rose by 0.88 percent, the life insurance group increased by 0.95 percent, and the production and processing group inched up by 0.34 percent.

The rest of the sectors saw declines, with the trading group suffering the sharpest fall of 2.46 percent. The mutual fund group recorded the smallest dip, down by 0.18 percent.
