Westerly winds and local systems influencing Nepal’s weather

KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing the combined effects of westerly and local winds, the Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated.

Additionally, there is a partial influence of moisture-laden air entering the country from the Arabian Sea.

At present, weather conditions remain partly to generally cloudy in the hilly regions, while the rest of the country is mainly clear to partly cloudy.

By this afternoon, hilly areas—including those in Koshi Province—are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, while the weather elsewhere will stay mostly clear to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning is likely in some areas of the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces, and at a few locations in other hilly regions. Light rain with snowfall is also possible at one or two spots in the high hills and mountainous areas.

Tonight, the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces are expected to see partly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will be mainly clear to partly cloudy.

There is a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning in isolated areas of the hilly regions in Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali. Light snowfall with rain is also possible in one or two locations across the high hilly and mountainous regions.

The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions, especially in hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces, where light to moderate rain with lightning is expected.
