BANKE: Five out of the eight local levels in Banke district lack a fire engine to respond to fire incidents within their jurisdictions.
Only three local levels—Nepalgunj Sub-Municipal Corporation, Kohalpur Municipality, and Narainapur Rural Municipality—currently have fire engines.
Nepalgunj has three fire engines, while Kohalpur and Narainapur each have one. Additionally, Nepalgunj Airport is equipped with two fire engines, and the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Ranjha facility has one.
In response to this situation, the District Administration Office has announced that the District Disaster Management Committee has instructed local levels to ensure that fire engines, along with drivers, fuel, and water, are on standby. All fire engines in Banke will be available for 24-hour operation.
Chief District Officer Dharmaraj Joshi confirmed that fire engines would be on standby for continuous operation, with a special focus on managing fire engine personnel.
The meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee also decided to initiate various measures to control fire and wildfire incidents, given the increased risk during the dry season.
