Birgunj clash: Injured undergoing treatment at Narayani Hospital



BIRGUNJ: Police personnel from Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force who were injured in a clash between two communities on Saturday are currently receiving treatment at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.

The incident occurred during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, leading to stone-pelting between the two groups.

Seventeen Nepal Police personnel, including Parsa District Police Chief Gautam Mishra, sustained injuries in the violence. Deputy Superintendent of Police Devendra Bahadur Singh from the Armed Police Force Nepal, Parsa, along with eight other APF personnel, were also injured.

Some officers, including Inspector Niroj Chaulagain of the Ward Police Office in Birta, have reportedly sustained serious injuries, according to Chief Mishra.

Additionally, 12 civilians were injured during the confrontation.

Dr. Udaya Narayan Singh, spokesperson for Narayani Hospital, confirmed that a total of 43 individuals—including Nepal Police and Armed Police personnel—are undergoing treatment at the facility.

In response to the situation, the District Administration Office, Parsa, has enforced a curfew from Saturday evening until 12:00 noon today.
