Rainfall expected in three provinces today

KATHMANDU: Rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces today.

Meteorologist Govinda Kumar Jha at the Weather Forecasting Division explained that the rainfall is due to a combination of local winds and the partial influence of westerly winds.

With pre-monsoon activity already in effect, rain with thunder and lightning is anticipated in the afternoon, while the weather will remain generally clear by night.

Since Wednesday evening, light to moderate rain has been observed in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

However, the Division has indicated that no rain is expected tonight, as the weather system responsible for the rainfall has developed in Gandaki Province and has already moved through Koshi Province.

It’s worth noting that the weather has been cloudy in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, for the past few days.

This has also impacted air traffic. According to Tribhuvan International Airport, both domestic and international flights were temporarily halted on Wednesday afternoon due to low visibility caused by adverse weather conditions.
