Baburam Bhattarai elected Chair of Nepal Socialist Party



KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been elected as the chair of the Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti). He won the position by defeating his contender, Netra Chapagain.

Out of a total of 873 votes cast, Bhattarai secured 802 votes, while Chapagain received 71. Although the vote count is complete, officials have stated that the final results might have minor adjustments.

The official announcement of Bhattarai’s election is scheduled for Thursday at 5 PM through a press conference, according to newly elected vice-chair Manushi Yami Bhattarai.

An official event is being held at Siddhicharan Hall, Nepal Academy, Kathmandu, where the elected officials and members from the party’s first national convention will take their oath.

Bhattarai is also set to address the gathering at the event.
