Labor Minister Bhandari vows to tackle national challenges after taking office

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rajendra Singh Bhandari has said he will work to help address the country’s challenges in line with his experience and capabilities.

He assumed office at the Ministry in Singha Durbar today after taking the oath of office from President Ram Chandra Paudel.

Speaking to journalists after assuming office, Minister Bhandari pledged to expedite work despite the government’s short tenure. He noted that, having served as a founding member of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), he aims to prepare an action plan to dismantle networks involved in organized crime.

“There is a need to bridge the negative gap between the police and the younger generation,” Bhandari said. “We must help them understand that not every police officer is oppressive and not every young person is destructive.” According to him, both the police and youth have faced difficulties, and both perspectives can be presented to the Cabinet.

Bhandari has become a minister nearly a decade after retiring from the police service. During retirement, he was active in writing, composing, and teaching. He said he now intends to serve the people and the country through his new role at the Ministry of Labor.
