KATHMANDU: Madhav Kumar Nepal, co-coordinator of the newly formed Nepali Communist Party, said that CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli has lost his composure after witnessing their party’s unity.
Speaking at an event held on Wednesday to welcome Dr. Bhim Rawal, coordinator of the Matribhumi Jagaran Abhiyan, into the party, Nepal remarked that Oli was unsettled by their coming together.
Nepal further stated that the unity process within the Nepali Communist Party will continue. Earlier, party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had also mentioned that more parties and leaders are expected to join the unification.
“Our unity and the formation of the NCP may have caused some to lose their composure. But there’s no need for anger or insults,” Nepal said. “Instead of criticizing us, they should thank us for reviving the communist movement they had weakened. Passing a resolution of gratitude would help heal the wounds caused by the past divisions.”
He reaffirmed that the unification campaign would not stop. Earlier, leader Rawal had said that signing the seven-point agreement felt like applying balm to the wounds left by the split of the former Nepal Communist Party.
On November 5, ten communist factions, including the CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist), merged to form the Nepali Communist Party. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ serves as the coordinator of the party, while Madhav Kumar Nepal is the co-coordinator.
