Prachanda claims all UML leaders will eventually join Nepali Communist Party

KATHMANDU: Coordinator of the newly formed Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has claimed that all leaders of the CPN-UML will eventually leave the party and join the new NCP.

Speaking briefly with reporters at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on Wednesday, Dahal said UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli only talks big and that the UML is gradually losing its leadership base.

“Twelve groups have already united under the Nepali Communist Party. KP just makes empty statements, all UML leaders will come here sooner or later,” Dahal said.

The new Nepali Communist Party was formed on November 5 through the unification of the CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and eight other communist groups. On Wednesday, the Matri Bhumi Jagaran Abhiyan, led by Dr. Bhim Rawal, also merged with the new party, while UML Central Committee member Prakash Bahadur Shah joined the NCP as well.
