PM Karki dissolves Parliament, President Paudel approves

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki has made her first major decision by recommending the dissolution of Parliament, a move swiftly approved by President Ram Chandra Paudel.

The decision was announced during the first meeting of the new cabinet, held at Sheetal Niwas shortly after Karki’s oath-taking ceremony. At the meeting, she addressed a longstanding demand raised by Gen-Z for political reform and institutional reset.

According to sources, Prime Minister Karki stated that the cabinet will be expanded within the next couple of days.

“The House has been dissolved — the President has approved the dissolution. I recommended it, and he accepted and signed it,” Prime Minister Karki said.
