KATHMANDU: The opposition Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) once again boycotted Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, accusing the government of ignoring their demand for a parliamentary or high-level judicial committee to investigate the visit visa scandal.
As soon as the meeting began, lawmakers from both parties stood up in protest. Speaker Devraj Ghimire then allowed RSP lawmaker Shishir Khanal to speak. Khanal said their parties would continue the protest until a committee is formed to probe the matter in line with their demand.
Following him, RPP lawmaker Bina Lama was given the floor. After her remarks, lawmakers from both parties walked out of the chamber.
The RSP and RPP have been boycotting the House since May 27, insisting on an independent investigation into the visa controversy.
