Monsoon trough shifts north, heavy rain expected



KATHMANDU: As the monsoon low-pressure trough moves northward, closer to the Terai region of Nepal, the weather has turned cloudy and rainfall has increased again.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the country is expected to experience cloudy weather throughout today (Tuesday), especially in the afternoon and night, with moderate to heavy rainfall likely in various areas.

The 24-hour bulletin issued by the Meteorological Division at 6 a.m. states that the sky will be generally cloudy across the country today.

Moderate rainfall is expected in many hilly areas and some parts of the Terai, including Madhes Province. Heavy rainfall may occur in one or two locations within the hilly regions of Koshi Province.

Tonight, cloud cover will be complete throughout the country. Moderate rainfall is possible in several hilly and Terai areas of Madhes Province, Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in a few places in the hills and Terai regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, including Madhes Province. Additionally, heavy rainfall may occur in one or two places in the hills and Terai of Gandaki Province and in the Terai areas of Lumbini Province.
