‘No improvement’ narrative is misleading: Minister Singh

KATHMANDU: Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has strongly criticized the notion that Nepal has made no progress, calling it misleading and an attempt to spread disillusionment.

Speaking at a programme organized by the Nepali Congress at Nagarjun Municipality-2 in Kathmandu to felicitate SEE graduates, DPM Singh urged students not to be misled by the pessimistic narrative of stagnation, but instead to seek the truth through observation and critical thinking.

“There is an attempt to spread a false narrative that nothing has improved in the country and that the future is bleak. You should not be swayed by such negativity. The youth must use their discretion and examine the reality,” he encouraged.

Singh emphasized that young people can assess the nation’s progress by engaging with their parents and elders about the past and present.

While acknowledging that much remains to be done to achieve the country’s aspirations, he pointed to significant strides already made, especially in the education sector.

Recalling his own student days, Singh noted the limited subject options available in the past compared to today’s opportunities, including access to international-level education within Nepal.

“It is our responsibility to lead the country towards development. We must take this seriously, and we are doing so,” he affirmed, urging students to contribute actively to national progress.

On the occasion, DPM Singh also encouraged students to consider pursuing higher education within Nepal. He argued that with the availability of quality education at home, studying abroad is no longer a necessity.
