Prachanda and Madhav Nepal meet to discuss recent political developments

KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chairperson of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the ongoing political situation and the deadlock in the federal parliament.

The meeting took place at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar. According to party leaders, the two leaders discussed the need for a “middle-ground solution” to resume parliamentary proceedings, which have been stalled for weeks.

Speaking after the meeting, Nepal highlighted the urgency of finding a practical and balanced resolution to ensure the functioning of the House. He noted that the obstruction in parliament must be addressed through consensus among major political forces.

Dahal also acknowledged that discussions were centered on resolving the parliamentary impasse. He said broader consultations, including with opposition parties and other stakeholders, would be conducted to reach a necessary decision.

Leaders from both parties indicated that the CPN (Unified Socialist) has agreed in principle to a two-point proposal drafted by the Maoist Centre as a potential step toward resolving the deadlock.

The meeting was attended by senior leaders, including Maoist Vice-Chair Barshaman Pun, Shakti Basnet, Hit Raj Pandey, and Unified Socialist Senior Vice-Chair Rajendra Pandey, among others.
