Buddha’s teachings should be applied in daily life for benefit of humanity: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that adopting Buddha’s teachings in daily life would benefit humanity.

At a public Buddhist gathering organized at Anandakuti Vihar in Swayambhu today on the occasion of the 2649th Buddha Jayanti, he mentioned that the teachings of Buddha are simple and clear, which stress on establishment of peace in the world.

“We should now focus on the major teachings of Buddha, such as peace, the righteous path, friendship, tolerance, fraternity, good conduct, etc.,” said Prime Minister Oli.

In the process of spreading the knowledge of Buddha, we should continue to work to preserve Lumbini and spread the ideals of Buddha.

He also referred to establishment of the international meditation center with a capacity of up to 8,000 people in Lumbini  during his previous premiership.

The Prime Minister also said that the government is working to complete the implementation of the Lumbini master plan.

He recalled that the 2649th birth anniversary is a reality based on the birth of Buddha and that the day is an extraordinary day when Buddha attained enlightenment.

Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Sunita Dangol, Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal and a representative of the Indian Embassy in Nepal, among others, extended their best wishes on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.

Earlier, Prime Minister Oli returned to Kathmandu after participating in a program held at Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
