Dengue cases continue to rise, 182 new infections reported in a week

KATHMANDU: The number of dengue cases in Nepal has continued to climb, with 182 new infections reported across the country in the past week.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), 26 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours alone, bringing the total number of confirmed dengue cases to 7,519 nationwide.

The highest number of infections has been reported in Gandaki Province with 1,908 cases, followed by Bagmati with 1,895, Lumbini with 1,247, Koshi with 974, Sudurpashchim with 821, Karnali with 514, and Madhesh Province with 160 cases.

So far, six people have died from dengue-related complications, EDCD confirmed.

Health authorities have noted that, unlike in previous years when cases peaked during the monsoon, this year’s infections have persisted even into late Kartik.
