Students defy curfew, stage joint protest outside Tri-Chandra Campus

KATHMANDU: Student wings of various political parties defied the curfew and staged a joint protest outside Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus on Thursday.

The demonstration was organized at the call of the Free Student Union (FSU). Earlier, FSU President Govinda Koirala had issued a notice on social media urging all student organizations to participate.

The call stated, “We stand at a critical juncture in history. The current situation demands that we unite to defend the constitution.”

Although the protest was scheduled for 5 p.m., students gathered nearly an hour earlier and took to the streets despite the curfew.

Earlier, the Nepal Student Union had organized small-group demonstrations at various locations in Kathmandu in defiance of the prohibitory order.
