Heavy downpours expected today



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has predicted cloudy weather and continued rainfall across various parts of the country today (Monday), especially during the afternoon and night.

According to the Division, skies will remain generally cloudy nationwide. Moderate rainfall is likely in many hilly areas and in some parts of the Terai, including Madhes Province.

There is a chance of heavy rain at one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

SImilarly, the weather will remain mostly cloudy throughout the country. Moderate rainfall is likely in many parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces—including Madhes Province—and at some locations in the remaining provinces.

Heavy rain is possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Madhes provinces, and in the Terai areas of Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The Division defines “day” as the period before 6 p.m. and “night” as the period from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Meteorologically, rainfall of less than 10 mm in 24 hours is considered light, while rainfall between 10 and 50 mm is categorized as moderate.
