Young man dies of electrocution in Jhapa



JHAPA: A 31-year-old man died of electrocution while fishing in a creek in Haldibari Rural Municipality, Jhapa.

According to the District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as Ram Kumar Adhikari, a resident of Chainpur Municipality-2 in Sankhuwasabha, who was currently living in Ainabari, Haldibari-4. He was reportedly electrocuted while fishing and died on the spot.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said Adhikari was employed at the Mainali Handmade Paper Buying and Selling Center in Haldibari-4.

In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in the Paliya River in Mechinagar Municipality-7. Police said the woman, believed to be around 50–55 years old, was found lying face down in the river this morning. An investigation is underway to determine her identity and cause of death.
