Opposition wraps up talks on RSP’s proposal, eyes dialogue with ruling alliance

KATHMANDU: Opposition parties have concluded their internal discussions on the five-point proposal put forward by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) concerning the controversial visit visa case.

The proposal includes key demands such as the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the alleged abuse of visit visas for human trafficking.

The meeting included key opposition leaders such as Barshaman Pun and Hit Raj Pandey from the CPN (Maoist Centre), Santosh Pariyar from the RSP, Rajendra Pandey from CPN (Unified Socialist), and Prabhu Sah from the Aam Janata Party.

Following the discussion, CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Barshaman Pun stated that the opposition parties have reached a common understanding on the issue and will now hold further talks with the ruling coalition. However, the leaders have not yet disclosed the specific contents of the shared position.

Meanwhile, Speaker Devraj Ghimire has been holding separate discussions with chief whips of the parliamentary parties to resolve the ongoing deadlock in the House, which has been repeatedly disrupted by opposition protests over the visit visa issue.
