Over 14,500 EVs imported from China via Rasuwagadhi in a decade

KATHMANDU: In the past ten years, Nepal has imported more than 14,500 electric vehicles (EVs) from China through the Rasuwagadhi border point, according to customs authorities.

Due to the surge in EV imports, a large number of these vehicles are now stranded in the Timure, Ghattethokla, and Rasuwagadhi areas, as many importers have yet to complete customs clearance procedures.

According to Ravindra Pyakurel, Information Officer at the Rasuwa Customs Office, 2,570 EVs have completed customs clearance and have already been dispatched towards Kathmandu.

In addition to electric vehicles, the Rasuwagadhi border also facilitates the import of various goods from China, including footwear, ready-made garments, rubber products, electronic devices, and agricultural produce.
