28-year-old dies in autorickshaw accident in Solukhumbu



SOLUKHUMBU: A 28-year-old man died and three others were injured after an autorickshaw veered off the road and fell approximately 150 meters in Solukhumbu district.

According to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, Lakpa Sherpa, a resident of Molung Rural Municipality-8 in Okhaldhunga, died on the spot in the accident at Bagkhor, Solududhkunda Municipality-8.

The autorickshaw was en route from the district headquarters, Salleri, to Okhaldhunga when it skidded off the road.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manojit Kunwar confirmed that the vehicle plunged around 150 meters from the roadway, resulting in the fatality.

Three others sustained injuries in the accident: autorickshaw drivers Rajesh Bik, 38, and Kazi Bik, 40, both from Mukli in Thulungdudhkoshi Rural Municipality-6, Solukhumbu, and Mingmar Sherpa, 35, from Molung, Okhaldhunga. They are currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Phaplu.

Preliminary investigations suggest that overloading and speeding may have caused the accident.
