HoR meeting taking place today

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) under the Federal Parliament is set to convene today at 1:00 PM.

However, the meeting continues to face disruptions from opposition parties, who have been obstructing proceedings over the ongoing dispute related to the ‘visit visa’ issue.

The House has repeatedly been adjourned without progressing to its scheduled agenda, as talks among parties have so far failed to produce any agreement.

Today’s meeting is expected to see Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel present a proposal to initiate a general discussion on the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for the fiscal year 2082/83. Debate on this proposal is also likely during the meeting.

In addition, Ramhari Khatiwada, Chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, is slated to present the committee’s report on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2082.

Due to the ongoing obstruction from the main opposition and other parties, parliament has been unable to move forward with its regular agenda in recent days.
