Finance Minister vows budget allocation in result-oriented projects



KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said the government would allocate budget to only those projects having adequate preparation and guarantee of result.

The project would be selected for re-prioritization and budget allocation decided accordingly, he reiterated while presenting the principles and priorities of the budget for the coming fiscal year in the HoR meeting.

“The aberrations in public finance will be wiped out. The allocation under capital spending will be decided based on preparation and investment modality,” Finance Minister Paudel stressed.

He further viewed revenue mobilization will be made effective for balanced public finance.

The public debt will be utilized well and resources secured sustainably, Paudel added.

For the balanced and inclusive development, coordination and cooperation among three tiers of government would be strengthened, he said, adding that reform in the fronts of law, institution and process would be continued for the development of private sector.

As he shared, the one-door service would be put in place for the investment-friendly atmosphere.

Land ceiling, use of forest area, tax discount and return of profit would be made hassles-free by wiping out irregularities, he reminded.

Social security schemes would be made just and run based on socio-economic deprivation. These schemes would be integrated to the National Identify Card so that there would not be duplication, according to him.

The next meeting of the HoR will be held on Tuesday.
