PM Oli blames previous govt for grey list inclusion

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has blamed the previous administration for Nepal’s placement on the international ‘grey list’ for money laundering, calling it a consequence of weak governance.

Responding to lawmakers’ queries during the House of Representatives’ discussion on the government’s policies and programs on Sunday, Oli said, “This result has come about due to the weaknesses of the previous government.”

He said his administration is committed to addressing the lapses that led to Nepal’s increased scrutiny in international financial monitoring.

In the same session, the Prime Minister announced that a fertilizer factory will be established in Nepal, stating that the government is taking a new and clear approach to address the country’s long-standing dependence on fertilizer imports.

“We are opening a fertilizer factory in a new way,” he said, without providing further technical details.

Oli also highlighted the need for improved waste management and said that the government is exploring innovative methods to tackle the growing waste crisis in urban centers.
