Pokharel criticizes Prachanda’s remarks as ‘frustrated,’ highlights govt’s achievements

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has accused Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of being increasingly frustrated after losing power, claiming that his recent remarks are driven more by emotion than fact.

In a post on Facebook today, Pokharel said Prachanda’s statements no longer carry substance, but reflect political bitterness. His comments came in response to Prachanda’s recent criticism of the current government during an address in Phidim, Panchthar.

Speaking at a public gathering on Saturday, the Maoist leader had said, “This government has done all the bad things but not a single good one. It is like a cat that is afraid despite having a two-thirds majority.”

Refuting the allegations, Pokharel defended the government’s performance, highlighting an increase in national revenue compared to the period when Prachanda served as Prime Minister. He also pointed to a rise in foreign exchange reserves and a surplus in the balance of payments.

He further mentioned 12 key achievements under the current administration, including payments to construction contractors and the resumption of major development projects that had stalled.
