Govt focused on constitutional amendment, good governance and economic revival: Minister Gurung

LUMBINI: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said on Wednesday that the government’s top priorities include constitutional amendment, good governance, and revitalizing the national economy.

Speaking to journalists at Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa, Minister Gurung—who also serves as the government spokesperson—said a task force comprising leaders of the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML is actively reviewing constitutional provisions to make the document more inclusive and widely accepted.

“The constitution will be amended with consensus after identifying its strengths and weaknesses and holding dialogues first among the ruling coalition and then with opposition parties,” Gurung said.

He also stated that the government is working towards strengthening good governance and accelerating economic growth under the current political consensus.

Regarding Gautam Buddha International Airport, Gurung said the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation is implementing a 10-point action plan to bring the airport into regular operation.

“Once an international airport is built, the government must ensure its operation,” he added.
