KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has criticized the suspension of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane, calling it unjust.

Speaking in Parliament as the leader of the main opposition, Prachanda accused the government of trying to silence opposition voices. He reminded that in the past, leaders who were not in custody had been allowed to attend parliamentary sessions.

“An opposition leader has been suspended in an unfair manner. Assess for yourself how this impacts public trust in democracy,” Prachanda said. “We had already set a precedent of allowing leaders not in custody to attend Parliament.”

He further alleged that the government was deliberately harassing Lamichhane. “Democracy is strengthened through debate in Parliament, not by dragging someone around and humiliating them,” he stated.
