No alternative to republic: CK Raut

MAHOTTARI: Dr. CK Raut, the Chairman of the Janamat Party, has stated that there is no alternative to a republic, criticizing the activism of monarchists.

Speaking to journalists at the conclusion of the three-day central committee meeting in Bardibas, Mahottari, Raut emphasized that while there is some dissatisfaction with the government’s poor performance, the major political parties must be prepared to improve.

“Our party has decided, through the central committee, to protect the democratic republic,” Dr. Raut said. “The Janamat Party is a republican party. We refer to it as a new republic, not a socialist republic.”

He argued that the resurgence of monarchist sentiments is a result of the government’s weak performance.

He further stated that the government’s failure in governance and development is evident, and the major parties need to improve in order to safeguard the republic.

Regarding the demonstration planned by the Socialist Front, Raut suggested that changing behavior should take precedence over demonstrations.

He reiterated that in Nepal’s current context, a new republic is more essential than socialism.
