Election countdown: 85 days to go for voting

KATHMANDU: With just 85 days remaining before Nepal heads to the polls for the House of Representatives election on March 5, 2026, the Election Commission (EC) has intensified preparations by reviewing polling centres nationwide to ensure they are safe, accessible, and convenient for voters.

The EC is also cross-checking voter lists at each centre, verifying details, and updating missing information to minimize confusion on election day. Officials say the review, scheduled to continue until December 12, is part of a broader effort to streamline logistical arrangements, reduce potential crowding, and strengthen voter confidence as the election date approaches.

Meanwhile, a total of 100 political parties have applied to the Election Commission (EC) for participation in the proportional electoral system for the upcoming election.
