Jhankri calls Gen-Z movement a conspiracy against UML and former government

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Ramkumari Jhankri has claimed that the Gen-Z movement was a well-planned conspiracy against the then government and the UML.

Speaking at the “Homecoming Campaign” ceremony held at the Rastriya Sabha Griha on Monday, Jhankri said time itself has punished her for leaving the UML. She described the UML as the main force in Nepal’s national politics, calling it a strong and patriotic party that unites nationalist forces.

Jhankri alleged that various powers used the Gen-Z movement as a tool to weaken the UML-led government. “Today, the Gen-Z movement stands against the CPN-UML,” she remarked.

She stressed that those who grew up within the UML must now come together to fulfill their national responsibilities. Questioning the justification of the violence during the Gen-Z protests, she said, “How can anyone justify burning government offices or harming people in the name of protest? UML stands firmly against such acts.”

Jhankri added that people affected during the Gen-Z movement are now turning to the UML, viewing it as a protector of the people. She urged the youth involved in the Gen-Z movement to join the UML, saying the party has opened its doors to all.

Criticizing former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, she said following him would lead nowhere and called on all to return to the UML’s mainstream.
