MP Sumana Shrestha to pursue independent political path despite Kulman Ghising’s new party plans

KATHMANDU: Sumana Shrestha has indicated that she will not join Energy Minister Kulman Ghising’s proposed new party, Ujyalō Nepal, and will instead move forward on her own political path.

While there were earlier speculations that Shrestha might align with Ghising, sources suggest that disagreements over leadership and strategy have led her to pursue an independent course. Some reports also suggest that she may align with Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah in a separate political initiative, though Shrestha herself has stated she is focusing on her own plans.

After leaving Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Shrestha had committed to externally supporting Prime Minister Sushila Karki, a role she is reportedly continuing. On her next steps, she told reporters, “I plan to move forward in my own way. I am studying and researching various issues before making any decisions.”
