National AI Center inaugurated in Nepal to boost digital transformation



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has established the National AI Center, inaugurated on Monday by Minister Jagdish Kharel.

Minister Kharel highlighted that although the center has started in a small office, it marks a significant leap for Nepal’s AI sector. He noted that with the formation of the AI Council and the introduction of a national AI policy, Nepal is advancing steadily on the path to a digital future.

Kharel also added that artificial intelligence will address issues raised during the Gen-Z movement, including good governance, corruption-free administration, and employment generation. The minister underlined that the government plans to leverage AI to act as a driver for national objectives and public benefit.
