Today marks World Mental Health Day

KATHMANDU: World Mental Health Day is being observed today across various countries to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being. First launched in 1992, the day highlights the essential truth that without mental health, overall health is incomplete.

This day underscores the urgent need to provide psychosocial counseling and immediate support during crises such as natural disasters, armed conflicts, and public health emergencies.

The United Nations has called on political leaders, government officials, healthcare and social service providers, educators, and community groups to work together to strengthen mental health support for all.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also urged its member states to promote the message that a healthy mind is key to a healthy body.
