Gen-Z movement splits amid early talks with Nepali Army

KATHMANDU: The Gen-Z movement showed signs of division on Wednesday as talks began with the Nepali Army on the country’s future roadmap.

One of the representatives, Raksha Bam, indicated on social media that her group withdrew from the discussion at Army Headquarters in Bhadrakali after disagreements emerged. She said the talks were moving forward against the “basic norms” of the movement.

Bam clarified that the Gen-Z protest has no single leadership and is instead led by multiple groups. “The views of those currently in talks with the Army do not represent me,” she wrote, adding that her group needs more time to prepare a unified list of demands.

She also confirmed that Gen-Z delegates had met with Army Chief Ashokraj Sigdel but stressed they had not presented formal demands. “We will work on a joint document representing all 77 districts and then approach the President and Army Chief with one voice,” Bam stated.
