Moderate to heavy rainfall forecast in parts of Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that the impact of the monsoon remains normal across Nepal, with the monsoon trough currently positioned further south than average.

Rainfall has been reported in parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, the Division said on Wednesday.

According to the forecast, most parts of the country will see generally cloudy conditions during the day, with skies remaining partly to mostly cloudy at night. Moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and other hilly regions, while heavy rain is possible in one or two places of the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has also warned of potential landslides and debris flows due to the rainfall. It further projected rising water levels in both small and large rivers and streams, which could affect transportation networks. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
