2,675 disaster incidents reported in four months



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,675 disaster incidents occurred from mid-April to August 9, affecting 4,725 households. These incidents have resulted in 117 deaths and 564 injuries.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 198 flood-related incidents were reported during this period, causing 16 deaths and 21 people missing. Floods affected 1,313 households.

The Authority also reported 281 landslide incidents, with 13 deaths and 17 injuries. Additionally, there were 174 incidents related to heavy rain, 244 due to lightning, 74 from snake bites, 1,066 fires, 158 forest fires, 276 windstorms, 153 animal attacks, 41 landslides, and five earthquakes.

In total, 4,725 households have been affected by these disasters, and 22 people remain missing.

In the last one month alone, as of the 24th, 35 disaster incidents have occurred. These include 13 landslides, four fires, one flood, five cases of incessant rain, one lightning incident, two additional landslides, and one animal attack. Six people have been injured in these recent incidents.
