BAITADI: Purchandi Municipality in Baitadi has been officially declared a fully immunized and sustainable municipality.

The declaration was made on Monday by the Municipal Vaccination Coordination Committee under the slogan “Utilization of local resources, ownership and participation—our commitment to full immunization.”

Health Branch Chief Binod Kumar Kunwar said the status was granted after confirming that all children under the age of five had received the full set of vaccines as per the national immunization schedule.

Previously, all 10 wards of Purchandi had been individually declared fully immunized and sustainable. Children in the municipality are vaccinated against 13 different diseases.

In recognition of their contributions, the municipality honored 10 vaccination workers and 10 female community health volunteers, Kunwar added.

A total of 20 individuals were recognized for their role in achieving the immunization milestone.

To maintain this status, the municipality conducts an annual household survey to ensure all children under five are vaccinated.

If any are found to have missed vaccinations, they are brought under coverage before the municipality reaffirms its fully immunized status.
