ICC Cricket: Nepal to face Netherlands today

KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on the Netherlands today in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 series being held in Scotland. Nepal has been in strong form throughout the tournament.

So far, Nepal has played two matches against Scotland—winning one in a thrilling finish and narrowly losing the other.

Nepal also secured a comfortable win against the Netherlands in an earlier match of this series. With 10 points from 15 matches, Nepal currently sits in seventh place in the League-2 standings.

Today’s match is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. Nepali time. The Netherlands, who are in second place with 26 points from 22 matches, come into this game after losing their last three matches. The United States leads the standings with 28 points from 20 matches.

Nepal’s campaign has been marked by exciting performances. In the first match of the series, Nepal edged out Scotland by one wicket with just one ball remaining.

In the second, they nearly chased down a massive 324-run target but fell just short, losing by two runs after scoring 321. Against the Netherlands, Nepal had previously won by five wickets with 17 balls to spare.

A total of eight teams are participating in League-2, which serves as a qualification pathway for the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
