ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has accused India of launching missile attacks on three of its military airbases, a claim that India has yet to comment on.

According to a BBC report, one of the targeted airbases, Nur Khan, is located in Rawalpindi, just 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

Earlier this week, India carried out strikes on targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in retaliation for a deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam last month, an attack that Islamabad denies any involvement in, the report said.

The situation has escalated, with both countries accusing each other of cross-border shelling and missile and drone attacks since India initiated its military operation.

Pakistan has reported that at least 36 people have been killed by Indian air strikes and artillery fire, while India claims that 16 people were killed on its side of the de facto border due to Pakistani shelling.

Indian-administered Kashmir has experienced a decades-long insurgency, resulting in thousands of casualties. Both India and Pakistan claim full sovereignty over the disputed region.
