One killed, three injured in jeep accident in Ghodaghodi



KAILALI: One person was killed and three others injured when a jeep (Lu 2 Cha 2358) carrying vegetables struck a cyclist along the East-West Highway in Ghodaghodi Municipality-2, Tanakpur, this morning.

The deceased, 55-year-old Shankar Dagaura of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-6, Kota Tulsipur, was taken to Ghodaghodi Hospital after the accident but was pronounced dead by doctors, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Awasthi, Chief of the Sukhad Area Police Office.

Three others sustained injuries in the incident. They include 54-year-old pedestrian Padam Bahadur Shahi of Sadepani, Ghodaghodi-2; 45-year-old Harka Bahadur Dagaura of Bardagoriya-6, Kota Tulsipur; and 25-year-old Krishna Dagaura, also of Bardagoriya-6. All are receiving treatment at Ghodaghodi Hospital, with Padam Bahadur Shahi referred to Dhangadhi for further care.

The jeep and its driver, 23-year-old Santosh Ghartimagar of Tribeni Rural Municipality-4, Rolpa, have been taken into police custody, the Area Police Office confirmed.
