Western weather system triggers possibility of rain today



KATHMANDU: The country is currently experiencing the partial impact of a western low-pressure system, along with a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of Nepal.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather will be generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions, including Koshi Province, this afternoon, while it will remain partly cloudy in the rest of the country.

There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Light rain may also occur at one or two places in the Tarai regions of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Similarly, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces tonight, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions.

The Department stated that there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of these provinces.

It has also urged the general public and travelers to remain cautious while operating vehicles in areas where rainfall or snowfall is forecast.
